Currently studying for a PhD in Ethnomusicology (phew ... what a big word!) at the Elphinstone Institute, University of Aberdeen.

She previously completed a degree in Music at SOAS, University of London, in 2004. Frances started playing Shetland and Scottish music on concertina whilst living in the Shetland Islands and playing regularly at sessions in pubs in Lerwick. She has played musical professionally since 1999, initially with the band Sölan and later with other line-ups.

She has toured extensively throughout the UK and in Norway, Denmark and Holland. She also plays the fiddle. A very talented lass indeed.
